Course Profile:

Screen Skills Ireland in association with Bow Street Academy for Screen Acting is seeking participants for “Directing and Acting for Intimate Scenes”.

Participants will form six groups of three with one director and two actors per group. Participants will be asked to bring a potential scene for workshopping during the course. There will also be a number of observer places.

DAY 1

MORNING

Introduction to workshop, best practice and concepts of filming intimacy.

AFTERNOON

Physical exploration covering:

  • warm ups
  • animal mating rhythms
  • role play actor and director discussions regarding scripted intimacy
  • sculpting moments of intimacy from scenes brought in by participants, putting into practice the Intimacy On Set Guidelines.

DAY 2

MORNING

Recap of Scenes. The 6 groups will break off into different studios to put into practice what they have learned over the previous sessions.

AFTERNOON

Groups will reconvene and scenes will be reviewed and critiqued by Ita.

Observers will attend the morning session on day 1 and the afternoon session on day 2.

Participant Profile:

This workshop is open to Actors, Dancers, Stunt Performers and Directors who wish to enhance their skills in the area of best practice for directing and acting in intimate scenes. There will also be a number of observer places.  The observer places will be open to Actors, Stunt Performers, Directors, Producers and 1st Assistant Directors.
