Ahead of the Dublin International Comedy Film Fest Ahead of the Dublin International Comedy Film Festival, WFT Member Margaret Kane-Rowe hosts a wonderful panel bringing together the creative and talented women whose work is screening at the festival. Rebecca Hickey (The Performance Review), Aisha Bolaji (The End of the World Tour), Alexandra Eftos (Good Fortune) and Croí Burrowes (Kiss Kiss Fang Fang) will be talking about their funny films and careers to date.

WFT Ireland is delighted to announce that the tale WFT Ireland is delighted to announce that the talented Bríd Ní Neachtain and Cleona Ní Chrualaoi will be our Guests of Honour at the WFT Ireland Members Short Film Showcase 2023! 

Bríd Ní Neachtain is a renowned Irish actress celebrated for her captivating performances in film and television. Bríd's versatility and ability to bring characters to life have made her a beloved figure in the industry. Bríd has graced the screen with her presence in numerous Irish and international productions, most recently in Róise & Frank, and The Banshees of Inisherin – where her performance in the former won her the IFTA for Best Lead Actress. Her roles have ranged from poignant dramas to light hearted comedies, leaving audiences in awe of her skillful portrayal of diverse characters. Until the 1990s she featured on TG4's soap, Ros na Rún. She is a former board member of Irish language broadcaster, our sponsor TG4. 

Cleona Ní Chrualaoi is a celebrated figure in the world of Irish media, known for her impactful contributions and commitment to the Irish language. Cleona was selected as one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow and won the Film & Drama Award at the Tatler Women of the Year Awards in 2022. As a Producer, her feature film debut, An Cailín Ciúin, was nominated for two BAFTAs and an Academy Award for Best International Feature in 2023. With a passion for storytelling, Cleona has played a pivotal role in promoting and preserving the richness of the Irish language through her work. Cleona’s diverse and impactful roles have captivated audiences, showcasing her versatility and dedication to portraying compelling characters. From thought-provoking dramas to engaging documentaries, Cleona’s work continues to leave a lasting impression.
