Film & TV workers statistically report lower levels of mental health and are often reluctant to seek help or support at work. There is a real need to improve working practices across the screen industries and encourage working in a more sustainable and mentally healthy way.

About Valeria Bullo

Valeria is an Irish/Italian producer with almost two decades of experience working predominantly in the independent UK film industry. She started her film career in corporate films and documentaries before moving into independent feature films. She worked her way up through the ranks of production eventually undertaking roles working on big budget studio feature films for Warner Brothers, Universal and Disney, including Fury Road, Maleficent and Inception. From 2014 to 2019 she was a Production Executive at Pathe , working on films such as Selma, Pride and Judy.

For the past three years she focussed on work in mental health and wellbeing across the screen industries. At the Film and TV charity, Valeria led on the development and creation of a first-of-its-kind, free to use resource called the Whole Picture toolkit, aimed at supporting productions to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the freelance workforce across the UK. The toolkit  is being rolled out across leading industry organisations.

Valeria is the creator and founder of the community support group for parents working in the film industry Cinemamas, aimed at promoting flexible work in the industry and supporting more inclusive ways of working, offering consulting, training and other services. Valeria now works as a consultant for production companies, studios, individuals or organisations who want to develop a wellbeing strategy for their projects or teams.
