Women in Film and TV Ireland is delighted to welcome Smrithika (Smithy) Majukar as its new administrator. Ms. Majukar is an emerging Indian-Dutch writer who graduates in 2023 with an MPhil in Screenwriting from Trinity College Dublin. As a feminist and writer, Ms. Majukar is passionate about telling stories from a unique perspective that highlights postcoloniality in the 21st century.
Importantly, she also brings a wealth of experience in administration, social media, and event management to the role, having worked in these areas in multiple student-led societies and films. Ms. Majukar’s expertise and passion for screen industry administration make her a valuable addition to the Women in Film and TV Ireland team. Her undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Amsterdam, combined with her work as a Director of Photography on award-winning films screened at the Dublin Universities Film Festival, showcases her talent and dedication to the industry.
Dr. Susan Liddy, chair of WFT Ireland, welcomed Ms. Majukar’s appointment, saying, “We are delighted to have Smithy join us at Women in Film and Television Ireland. Her unique perspective and experience in administration, social media, and event management make her an excellent fit for this role. Her enthusiasm is infectious! We look forward to working with her to continue championing women’s voices in the Irish screen industries.”
As the new administrator, Ms. Majukar will play an important role in advancing Women in Film and Television Ireland’s mission to promote greater representation of women in the Irish screen industries. Her passion for storytelling and dedication to gender equality in film make her a valuable asset to the organisation.
