WFT Ireland Statement on the US Supreme Court’s Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

The Chair and Board of Women in Film and TV Ireland are devastated to learn that there is now no constitutional right to abortion in the United States.  The immediate and detrimental consequences for millions of women who make the decision to end a pregnancy is heartbreaking and an affront to decency. In Ireland, are all too aware of the pain and suffering caused by restrictive and prohibitive laws around abortion having only recently voted to overturn a constitutional ban that caused misery and havoc for decades. We must remember that women’s rights everywhere are precious – and precarious. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our comrades in the US.
